JKM-1090 Farmhouse with unique lime klin and outbuildings surrounded by olive groves in Val di Chio Valley, Castiglion Fiorentino, Tuscany

The property is located in the middle of the beautiful Val di Chio Valley close to the medieval, hilltop hamlet of Castiglion Fiorentino. The valley, for its beauty has been nominated centuries ago as the Val di Dio, which means the Valley of God. It has been now several years since it has become quite popular among foreigners and Italians from large cities, who appreciate the quiet and natural environment without masses of tourists. For this reason, several people bought properties here or simply rent them during summer season.

The house was constructed in the forties. It measures about 206 sq.m. on to levels plus under roof area which can be used for storage space.  The ground floor is divided into five stores of different dimensions, room with bread oven, former stable used as wine cellar, kitchen and a space which was once a local food store. First floor, accessed by means of internal staircase is composed of four bedrooms and one bathroom with shower. The bigger outbuilding is the most interesting part of the property. It is an antique stone lime klin used to produce quick lime. Stones and wood were transported to the upper part of the klin through a stone ramp sustained by four huge arches in terracotta bricks. The tower has been covered now with roof but could become a nice terrace with spectacular views of the valley and hilltop Castiglion Fiorentino. The lower part was extended and consists of three large rooms of which one still has the lower part of the klin where the lime was collected. This building measures approx. 135 sq.m. and could be turned into a nice second house.

The land measures over 8000 sq.m. with 65 olive trees, fields, and a piece of wood. There are two water wells and electricity. Telephone line is passing nearby.

It is a particular object with lots of potential, situated in a panoramic and easy to reach position. The buildings require restoration, but it is worth investing in this property.
